Why is summer driving in Ohio so dangerous?

The summer months in Ohio are filled with trips to the pool, visits to grandparents, day trips to museums and so much more. With the kids on summer vacation, there's so much to do in so little time. But, why is it more dangerous to drive in the summer months than any other time of the year? We will explore the reasons in today's post.

For starters, there is more congestion in the summer months. The kids are no longer in school, which means families are hitting the road for vacation. This adds to the congestion of daily rush hour and others who are out running errands or visiting the doctor.

To make matters worse, construction occurs more often in the summer because of the better weather in Toledo. Construction teams don't have to contend with snow, ice, sleet, freezing rain or the frigid temperatures, which is why there are more construction zones active in the summer.

There are more teen drivers on the roads of Ohio in the summer compared to any other month of the year. Why? They don't have to be in school, which leaves them the freedom to go for a joyride or two with their friends. They also travel to and from their summer jobs.

You are bound to come across an uptick in motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, runners and animals when driving in the summer. All of these can pose dangers to you and others around you.

Driving in the summer can be dangerous for people of all ages. With more congestion, more teen drivers, road construction and summer storms; the road can be a dangerous place in the summer in Toledo.
